On March 5, 2026, Mastercam Canada, a Sandvik affiliate, reported that its acquisition of In-House Solutions had closed and the channel partner was operating as Mastercam Canada. It linked direct Canadian operations to faster support and customised training. Its support page says primary sales and support contacts remain, with corporate teams added: stated arrangements and intended benefits, not measured improvements.
A business built around customer problems
In-House Solutions’ company history traces its beginnings to a one-person, home-based business incorporated in 1988. It used microcomputer CAD/CAM to help machine shops and manufacturers with design, CNC machining and programming problems. The account describes its development into software representation, training materials, custom posts, consulting and services, including distribution of posts and training through US Mastercam resellers. Its undated retrospective describes a business developed around customers’ manufacturing problems.
Historical training collaboration
A September 2020 announcement documents In-House Solutions contributing training material to Mastercam University. Its Mill Essentials tutorial was available then, with further tutorials planned. The target’s products and services director said it had produced industrial and educational training material for more than 20 years. This was a contribution to Mastercam’s own training offering: In-House Solutions supplied instructional material for people learning to use the software.
The work inside a post
Mastercam’s March 2022 explanation describes a post processor translating computer-aided manufacturing toolpaths into G-code for a particular machine. The software’s description of a cutting path must become instructions suited to how that machine moves. That is why the controller and configuration matter: the guide says a reseller requests those details for a custom post. It describes both prewritten posts and custom support, including In-House Solutions. This explains the contribution; it does not validate code for use.
A customer’s application and support routes
Mastercam’s undated Nicholson account supplies a concrete application. The debarker manufacturer in Sidney, British Columbia, added APlus additive capability to an existing Mastercam environment. A company representative said being able to train only on the additive side influenced the choice. The account names In-House Solutions for additive-manufacturing support and Postability for post issues. That distinction describes the help Nicholson sought; it does not assign exclusive responsibilities. The vendor account does not establish the project date, and its named support routes should not be read as customer contracts.
The Postability announcement
Mastercam’s August 1, 2023 announcement reported Sandvik’s acquisition of Canadian post-processor developer Postability. It described plans to make the technology and support available globally through Mastercam’s reseller channel, with no planned changes to external vendor, customer or support relationships. The announcement also referred to signing an agreement; it does not establish an exact closing day. Its distribution and continuity plans describe intent, not achieved results.
What ownership does not explain
The 2020 training collaboration predates the purchase. The target’s history describes an established technical business; ownership alone does not date when its capabilities arose.
The Postability announcement proposed wider distribution of specialist technology; the 2026 purchase brought a Canadian channel into direct operations. These emphases overlap: In-House Solutions also describes custom posts.
Nicholson’s example distinguishes application support from post issues. Choose by the work required; names alone prove neither independent ownership nor acquisition benefits, and the project date is unknown.
