Good morning. Cohere has a fundraising target; BMO has closed a sale with more portfolio transfers to come. The verbs matter as much as the numbers.
Cohere: an initial close, a C$7 billion target
Cohere announced the initial close of its Series E, targeting up to C$7 billion. The initial close and the full-round target are different facts. The companies of Schwarz Group lead the round, with new investors including the Government of Canada, Bell Ventures and Bullhound Capital.
The company plans to put funding toward models, products and long-term computing infrastructure. Keep the initial close and the full-round target in separate columns.
BMO closes, with transfers still to come
BMO completed the previously announced sale of its Transportation Finance and Vendor Finance businesses to Stonepeak. About C$11 billion of loans and leases transferred at closing—roughly 75% of the estimated C$14.5 billion portfolio. Those are portfolio balances, not the purchase price.
The remaining balances are expected to transfer in fiscal Q1 2027, subject to customary conditions. BMO keeps a 19.9% interest in the acquiring entity; the businesses now operate as Longview Capital Solutions.

JDM’s acquisition announcement
Vizsla closes in Alaska. Vancouver-based Vizsla Copper completed its acquisition of Delta and Helm Bay from Agnico’s US subsidiary. Consideration includes shares, warrants and royalties. Deferred shares require disinterested shareholder approval unless they can be issued without Agnico reaching the stated 20% ownership or control threshold. The assets have changed hands; some share consideration remains conditional.
